Wrexham Swimming club have had and outstanding end to this years season with achieving huge success at both the World Master Championships in Japan and the Welsh National Championships in Swansea at the beginning of August.

Master Swimmer Kim Ripley took the World by storm where she smashed her very own Welsh Record in the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 38.62seconds to secure a 3rd place and Bronze medal. She also achieved a further two 6th places in both 100m and 200m Breaststroke

Welsh National Championships

A very strong team of 24 Wrexham swimmers attended the Welsh Nationals aged between 11 and 18 years old.

Adam Taylor, Mollie Rogers, Aeron Lee, Dylan Jones, Dewi Hardy, Jack Leatherbarrow, Ryan Hardy, Tyler Holland, Megan Roberts, Myia Jones, Carys Morgan, Joanne Andrews, Rebecca Taylor, Annabelle Jones, Ceri Roberts, Sophie Forgrave, Molly Bates, Ava Lendnau-Moulton, Seren Morgan, Olivia Jones, Darcy Jones, Zac Campbell, Dyfan Bostock, Reece Linge

Joanne Andrews aged 13 stole the show and is now a 5 time Welsh National Champion in 400IM, 200IM, 100M and 200M Butterfly, 200M Breaststroke and achieved 3rd place 100M Breaststroke and 50M Fly and cements her place in the Welsh Squad for next year.

Reece Linge aged 11 years won his first medals at a National Championships achieving Sliver in 200M and 50M Backstroke and Bronze in 50M Fly, 100M Backstroke and 50M Breaststroke.

Rebecca Taylor aged 13 years wins her very first Bronze medal in 200 Butterfly and hits a Welsh Squad Time in 400M Freestyle

Megan Roberts aged 16 years old achieves Sliver Medal 400M IM and there Bronze Medals in 800M, 200M and 100M Freestyle.

Ryan Hardy aged 15years achieved Sliver Medals in 1500M Freestyle and 200M Butterfly and Bronze medals in 100M and 50M Butterfly and 100M Freestyle.

Adam Taylor aged 18years earns two Sliver medals in 1500M Freestyle and 200M Backstroke followed up with Bronze Medal 100M Backstroke.

Dyfan Bostock Aged 13 years achieved a Sliver Medal in 50M Breaststroke.

Tyler Holland aged 15years Bronze Medal in 200IM

Carys Morgan earns a Bronze medal in the 200M Butterfly.

Whilst the medals are all very impressive the statistics of the whole team are even more impressive and shows what you can achieve with hard work and dedication.

Total swims 164, number of Personal Bests 152 so awesome 93%

Out of the 24 Swimmers who attended a total of 20 swimmers made finals and top 8 spots so 84%

Number of finals made 74. YES THATS RIGHT 74.

Number of medals won 30. That’s 40% of finals we took a medal.

Medals won 5 Golds, 9 Silvers 16 Bronze.

Out of the performance clubs in Wales Wrexham came second with Cardiff top. Wrexham had more finalists than any other Welsh club. Which is a huge huge achievement considering there are no long course pools in North Wales!
