Positive Start to the New Season

ECL CHAMPS 2017

Sunday 1st October saw the first meet of the new season for Wrexham SC - 86 swimmers competed in the ECL Championships held at Waterworld against swimmers from Buckley, Connahs Quay, Flint, Mold and Welshpool.

Early season the swimmers have been focused on improving their underwater kicking ability whilst vastly improving their skill delivery in training, and these positive steps in training really showed on Sunday with an impressive 227 PBs achieved.

 

GOLD MEDALS

We had 20 individual swimmers achieve Gold Medals, leading the way with 7 Gold Medals was Andy Reay, with Keely Smith and Chloe Morris close behind with 5 Gold Medals each. Charlotte Thorpe and Evie Price both achieved 4 Gold Medals each, with Connie Sanger and Adam Taylor with 3 Golds each. Other Multi-Gold Winning swimmers were; Ollie Bowyer-Jones, Ruby Clayton, Nia Gregson, Ffion Halliwell, Myia Jones, Xander Roberts, Catrin Roberts, and Tom Thorpe - all winning 2 Golds each. Will Clayton, Sam Jackon, Olivia Price, Sadie Spencer and Lucy Thomson also cam home with 1 Gold Medal a piece.

In total our swimmers achieved an impressive 52 Gold Medals

 

SILVER & BRONZE

On top of the 227 PBs and 52 Gold Medals a further 59 Silver Medals and 36 Bronze Medals were achieved.

 

TOP TEAM

All 86 swimmers contributed to the success of the day with the team winning the coverted TOP TEAM AWARD - well done all.

 

TOP SWIMMERS

On top of the medal and team success we had 6 swimmers win TOP SWIMMER in their age group, showing great efforts throughout the day. Our winners were:

  • Connie Sanger (9/10yrs)
  • Nia Gregson (11/12yrs)
  • Ffion Halliwell (15/16yrs)
  • Will Clayton (15/16yrs)
  • Catrin Roberts (17+ yrs)
  • Andy Reay (17+ yrs)

 

Well done to all swimmers and coaches for a excellent start to season. A massive thank you to all our members who volunteered on the day to give our swimmers the opportunity to excel and start the season so positively.
